The Owls Under-18s resumed their season with a 1-1 draw at local rivals Leeds on Saturday.
The inclement weather dictated an extended festive break but there were no signs of rustiness in West Yorkshire.
Indeed, it seemed Mason Duffy’s strike with just five minutes to go would secure all three points but the Owls conceded with the last kick of the game.
Coach Steven Haslam said: “I was pleased with the performance.
“We passed the ball well and controlled the game. The only criticism is that we didn’t finish our chances and should have been out of sight after an hour.
“A combination of missing chances and good goalkeeping kept the score level.
“It was disappointing to concede late on and we didn’t get what we deserved on this occasion.
“But it was a great performance and a good start to 2015 for the players, who have been itching to get back playing after having games postponed due to the weather.”
