  • Wednesday face Manchester City at weekend
  • Second cup contest with Citizens
  • Glenn Loovens reveres FA Cup

Owls skipper Glenn Loovens has called on his team mates to enjoy the FA Cup third round trip to Manchester City on Sunday.

Wednesday head to The Etihad for their second duel this season with City and Loovens is looking forward to pitting his wits against some of the best players in the land.

He said: “I am looking forward to the game because for us it is a game with nothing to lose.

“We are up against the champions of the Premier League and I think we should just go out there and enjoy it. We can go there and just have a right go at it.

“Everyone at the club is looking forward to the game.”

On a personal note, Loovens has underlined his fondness for the FA Cup.

The Dutchman made a cup final appearance with Cardiff in 2008 and has suitable reverence for the most famous domestic competition in world football.

He added: “I have been here for nine or ten years so I know the importance of the FA Cup. I have played in a final and it is a great experience.

“It’s exciting when you get a bit further in the cup when the tension builds up. That is what we are going to aim for as a club.”
