Outgoing chairman Milan Mandaric has offered a heartfelt vote of thanks to supporters following the takeover agreement with Thai investor Dejphon Chansiri announced on Wednesday.
Mandaric will step down once Football League ratification is confirmed and what he says are ‘formalities’ are concluded.
He said: “I am very happy and proud about what I have done here. As I always said to the lovely supporters of Sheffield Wednesday, I will take care of your club, clean it, sort it out and put it in the right direction.
“I tried to go as high as I could during my time, but I said when I leave, I would secure the club’s financial future.
“I am now at a stage where I can look at our supporters in the eye and say I did what I set out to do. The club is in good shape and is going to good hands and I am so happy for our supporters.
“I will be stepping down as chairman and a director but I will never step down as their friend.”
