Much more to offer

9 January 2015

Frenchman Claude Dielna wants to nail down a regular starting shirt for the Owls and show the fans and his team mates what he can do.

During his fleeting appearances from the bench and three starts in all competitions, the former Olympiakos stopper has shown flashes of the quality he has in his locker.

A stunning strike against Blackburn at Ewood Park has been the highlight of Dielna’s short stint with Wednesday.

But the defender says he has much more to offer and after a composed display at left back against Manchester City, Dielna is pushing for a regular starting berth.

He told swfc.co.uk: “I want to show the supporters and the team that I have come here to play and play well. To score one goal or have one good game is not enough.

“The important thing for me is to play and to help the team win games. I am a winner, I don’t like to lose.”

Dielna revealed that his close friend Reda Johnson gave glowing reviews of all aspects of the club ahead of his move to England.

And now here, the tough tackling defender wants to kick on and believes January is a key month for the Owls.

He continued: “My friend Reda Johnson told me all about how good it is here. He’s always very positive about this club and I’m very happy, but I want to play.

“We have a very important month now, we have big games to play and we will go for the win.

“We have played well and we need to keep getting points now.”
