- Will Keane signs for Sheffield Wednesday
- Striker an academy product at Manchester United
- 22-year-old joins for the rest of the season
Sheffield Wednesday have signed Will Keane on loan from Premiership giants Manchester United.
The talented young striker will stay with the Owls for the remainder of the current campaign.
Keane, 22, has been on United’s books since the age of ten, rising through the ranks to earn a professional contract at Old Trafford.
He scored freely for the Reds at academy level, including a hat-trick facing Chelsea in the semi finals of the 2011 FA Youth Cup, which United went on to win.
Keane lifted the club’s prestigious Young Player of the Year title the previous season and went on to be capped at both England Under-19 and Under-21 level.
Highly rated by Old Trafford legend Sir Alex Ferguson, he put pen to paper on a three-year deal with United last summer.
Keane will wear shirt number 48 for the Owls and is eligible for next Tuesday’s Championship home game against Birmingham City.
