Yesterdays: Pressman fires Owls into round four

14 January 2015

Former Owls goalkeeper Kevin Pressman was the hero of the FA Cup third round replay with Watford at Hillsborough 17 years ago today.

After drawing 1-1 at Vicarage Road in the cup-tie, the game was replayed at Hillsborough 11 days later.

Wednesday played out the majority of contest with ten men after the dismissal of Paulo Di Canio on 26 minutes but nothing could separate the sides in S6.

After a goalless 90 minutes and extra time, the FA Cup-tie was settled on penalties where Pressman became the man of the moment.

The shot-stopper denied Hornets midfielder Micah Hyde from the spot before stepping up to emphatically smash home the winning penalty to send the Owls through to round four.
