Carlos looking forward to Portugal

18 July 2015

Carlos Carvalhal is gearing up for the Owls’ trip to Portugal next week following the friendly outing against York on Saturday.

Wednesday drew 1-1 at Bootham Crescent as they stepped up their pre-season preparation ahead of the 2015/16 campaign.

Lewis McGoogan was on target for the Owls in North Yorkshire.

Carvalhal told swfc.co.uk: “Again, the result is not important. What is important is that we continue to grow as each game goes by.

“We go to Portugal on Wednesday and we will have a different kind of test, this time against Braga.

“The European teams play a different kind of way and I am sure it will be a good experience for the players.

“The warm weather training will be beneficial and it is good time for the players to be together.”

Carvalhal was a popular player for Braga, whom he skippered from the centre half berth while on the other side of the white line.

The Owls’ head coach added: “It will be nice for me to play Braga. It is a nice club and for me, I have some very nice memories.

“I was captain of the team and that is nice to look back on.

“But my focus, my concentration, is with Sheffield Wednesday and we go to Portugal with a job to do.”
