Caolan Lavery says he is feeling the benefits of a tough pre-season schedule.
The Wednesday squad have been hard at work throughout the week in the sessions at Middlewood Road and played their first game on Saturday against Alfreton.
The Canadian frontman is happy with how things are progressing and is determined to store a solid pre-season under his belt, heading into the 15/16 campaign.
“I’m looking forward to a strong pre-season, particularly after getting injured last year at this stage, I want to get the best pre-season I can under my belt,” he said.
“The new head coach has brought new ideas and a new philosophy, so it was good to play in a match and start putting those into practice.
“It’s been enjoyable and the sessions have been good. They’ve been long, we’ve been worked hard but all the lads will tell you they have enjoyed them.”
The Owls continued their preparations for the new term on Saturday with a warm-up fixture against Alfreton and Lavery, who played the first 45 minutes, is ready for the next challenge.
“It actually turned out to be a good game,” he said. “It was our first game for a few months and it’s always nice to get back out on the pitch.
“We go to Portugal later this month and I think the game over there will do us good; Braga are a good side and the boys are looking forward to this and the other fixtures.
“We have a couple more games this week, then we go to Portugal so there is a lot of hard work coming up.”
