Hunt in the mood as pre-season hots up

Loan ace on the Owls' summer schedule

Jack Hunt says he is revelling in the hot weather conditions and subsequent tough training sessions in Portugal.

The Owls are stepping up their 2015/16 preparations in high temperatures across Europe and Hunt says that can only help with fitness.

Speaking to swfc.co.uk at the club’s training base in Albufeira, he said: “I like this weather. Every summer I go away and train abroad just because I think you get a lot fitter in the heat.

“It is very tough, you have to really take care of your body with how much you are training, how much fluid you have to replace but it’s a great way to train and is good for the team.”

The full back, on a season-long loan from Premier League side Crystal Palace, feels he has settled in seamlessly with Wednesday.

A minor thigh strain has seen the defender miss the Owls’ previous two friendly games but Hunt says he is well on the road to recovery and is hoping to play a part in the coming pre-season fixtures.

He added: “I’ve settled in really well, bought into the head coach’s plans and what he wants to do.

“It can sometimes take time to settle in, particularly when players are coming in from different leagues and different countries but this trip will do us the world of good to spend five solid days together.

“I had a slight thigh strain in training so we’ve taken it easy and I’ve done a lot of gym work but that was more precautionary than anything else.

“I’m hoping to be involved in the next couple of games.

“It will be a tough against Braga but that will help us. We might not see as much of the ball as what we would against other teams, they are a top side but we are building a strong team here too and we look forward to the challenge.”
