Lees extends Owls stay

31 July 2015

Defender commits until 2019

Owls defender Tom Lees has extended his contract at Hillsborough until 2019.

The 24-year-old had two years to run on his previous contract but following an outstanding maiden season in S6, the commanding stopper has extended until summer 2019.

Lees made the switch from Yorkshire rivals Leeds to Wednesday ahead of the 2014/15 campaign and proved to be an excellent addition and integral member of the squad.

In total, the coveted defender made 48 appearances for the Owls last term.

His impressive performances were a big factor in Wednesday’s outstanding season at the back, as the Owls registered 17 clean sheets – equalling a long-standing club record.

The new long term deal will serve as a significant boost to the Owls’ defensive ranks ahead of the 2015/16 campaign, which kicks off against Bristol City on Saturday week.
