Matchday! Owls wrap up Braga preparations

24 July 2015

Following three days of warm weather training here in Portugal, the Owls are preparing for the friendly fixture with Braga this evening (7.15pm).

Friday morning saw a light session for the players with tonight’s game in mind.

Earlier in the week, the fitness coaches have overseen intense, twice daily sessions as Wednesday work towards the opening match of the new Championship season against Bristol City at Hillsborough on Saturday 8 August.

First up, though, is the meeting with Braga and a reunion for Owls head coach Carlos Carvalhal, who skippered the Portuguese big hitters as a player.

He told swfc.co.uk: “I have many fond memories of my time with Braga. I was a centre half who liked to play the ball.

“I was proud to captain the team like I am proud to be the head coach of Sheffield Wednesday and I am looking forward to playing a game after all the training here so far.”

The friendly takes place at at Estadio da Nora, Ferreiras, Albufeira and entrance is free for all supporters.

Twenty fours later, the Owls will play local side Farense in a training exercise behind closed doors before one further day of training ahead of a return to Sheffield on Monday.
