Having completed his switch from Watford to Wednesday, Lewis McGugan wants to get down to business as quickly as possible.

The midfield man became a firm fans’ favourite last season on loan with the Owls and is delighted to commit his long term future to the club.

The 26-year-old has signed a three-year contract and after the formalities were completed, he told swfc.co.uk:

“I’m glad it’s all sorted. The most important thing is that it is done and now I can settle down as quickly as possible and give the club everything.

“The time I had here last season was brilliant, I really enjoyed it. Coming here allowed me to enjoy my football and enjoy playing in front of the fans.

“They have been amazing with me, even over the summer.

“If there was ever a chance for me to come back and play for this club, then it was always something I would have wanted.”

Looking around the stadium and in particular at the new state of the art Desso playing surface, McGugan is excited for the season ahead and is eager for the action to begin.

He added: “This is my home now and I want to concentrate on giving the club everything. Hopefully this is the start of great things to come.

“At times last season the pitch wasn’t the best but if you look at it now, as a footballer and with the way I play, it’s brilliant. I can’t wait to be honest.”
