10 July 2015

Five participants from the Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme yesterday represented the club at a Premier League 4 Sport (PL4S) national tennis tournament at the National Tennis Centre.

In a drive to increase sports participation during the Wimbledon fortnight, 18 teams from the Premier League 4 Sport programme took part in the tournament that took place at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton, London.

The Premier League and British Tennis have partnered up to provide regular year round tennis sessions as part of the Premier League 4 Sport (PL4S) Olympic Legacy programme. The Community Programme delivers various PL4S sessions in South Yorkshire including football, dance and tennis.

Ryan Rudd, Ben Earnshaw, Lewis Williams, Olivia Richardson and Christina Richardson represented the club’s Community Programme in the tournament.

The participants won the chance to represent Wednesday at the national tournament after they won a local competition.
