Palmer back in business

13 July 2015

Last Saturday marked the beginning of the Owls’ pre-season fixture schedule and it was a day that couldn’t come soon enough for Liam Palmer.

An ankle injury back in March saw the defender’s season come to an abrupt halt and with that in mind, Palmer is keen to make up for lost time.

The 23-year-old played the first 45 minutes against Alfreton Town and was pleased to be back in the old routine.

Having stored his first test of pre-season under the belt, Palmer is now ready for more as the Owls head to Ilkeston on Wednesday.

He said: “I’ve been putting in the hard work and feel good, feel fit so I think in a few more games I’ll be right back where I need to be.

“It was great to get some minutes under the belt because it’s been a while.

“The summer has been tough but the physios at the club have been top class and there with me every step of the way.”

Liam now looks to the future with plenty of excitement and ambition with new head coach Carlos Carvalhal at the helm.

He explained: “The head coach is getting his ideas across to us in training. We’ve had double sessions, triple sessions and we’re working really hard to get things right.

“It’s exciting times for the club and we can’t wait for it all to start.

“We had a good test on Saturday to ease us back in and now the games start to come around a bit quicker and we go again at Ilkeston on Wednesday.”
