Owls midfielder looks forward

Kieran Lee says there is positive pressure for the Owls to kick on this season.

A new-look Wednesday side will begin their Championship campaign on 8 August against Bristol City at Hillsborough.

And Lee believes high expectations and competition for places will serve everybody well at the club.

Carlos Carvalhal and the squad are hard at work behind the scenes and are set to jet out to Portugal on Wednesday for the five-day training camp.

Lee said: “Everyone is enjoying adapting to a new style and I think the fans will enjoy it too.

“We want to entertain and score goals from all over the pitch. We’ve got new players coming in and there is expectation on us. With that comes pressure.

“We know the pressure is on and that’s a good thing for the group and everyone is looking forward to the challenge.

“With more competition, each individual has to fight that bit harder for their shirt.”

Ahead of the Owls’ trip to Portugal, where they will face a stern test against SC Braga, Lee is looking forward to the change of scene as he explained:

“It’s good to break up pre-season by going to Portugal and it will be tough out there.

“We know our schedule, we’re playing a good team with a different style of play but I’m looking forward to it.

“It’s all good preparation for us for a difficult season ahead. There are a lot of clubs who will feel they have a chance of promotion, we know it will be a tough year but we have to focus on ourselves."
