Sasso set for battle

Owls loanee looks forward to the coming campaign

Owls loanee Vincent Sasso says he is ready to give the coming campaign everything as the big kick-off against Bristol City edges ever closer.

Sasso – on a season-long loan from Braga – has stiff competition for a starting shirt in the Owls’ defence but will be doing all he can to push his way into contention.

The versatile defender said: “I will give 100% for the jersey. I always want to do my best for my team mates, the fans and the club. There are great players here.

“Glenn is the captain and has a lot of experience. Tom is a great professional. It’s good to work with these guys because you learn a lot.

“They did well last year but there are a lot of games in the Championship so I think everybody will get a chance.

“If I play, I will give my best but if Tom, Glenn or Darryl Lachman are chosen, I will keep on training hard and pushing to play.”

The Owls have two pre-season fixtures remaining with Scunthorpe at Glanford Park on Wednesday evening followed by St Mirren at Hillsborough on Saturday.
