Last week the Owls signed coveted Portuguese star Marco Matias.
This in turn prompted the Football League to look back at five of the best Portuguese players to ever appear in the Football League.
And of course, our very own Jose Semedo was rightly included in that list!
The Football League said: “Semedo will be teaming up with Matias at Sheffield Wednesday, with the central midfielder having spent the last four years at Hillsborough.
“Semedo’s combative style has made him a fans’ favourite with the Owls, after he moved there from Charlton Athletic in 2011.
“If Matias is similarly successful then his addition will be considered an astute one.”
The 30-year-old has made 140 appearances for the Owls and was crowned as the SWFC Player of the Year and League 1 PFA Fans’ Player of the Year in the club’s 2011/12 promotion campaign.
The popular midfielder is now set for his fifth season at Hillsborough after signing a new one-year deal with Wednesday.
