8 June 2015

Sheffield is set to celebrate its footballing heritage at a star-studded sporting dinner in July.

The Hilton Hotel at Victoria Quays will be the venue for the event that signals the final countdown to the Youdan Trophy - an international tournament that is promising to bring the global stars of the future to the Steel City.

The competition is celebrating the oldest tournament in the world, the Football Challenge Cup, that pre-dates the FA Cup by four years.

Speakers at the dinner include Owls legend David Hirst and former Sheffield referee Keith Hackett, with more names to be announced.

The Youdan Trophy Sporting Dinner will take place on Wednesday 1 July at 7.00pm. Tickets are just £27.50 per person or just £26 per person for tables of ten or 12 and can be booked by emailing info@youdantrophy.com

Sheffield-based You-Are-The-Ref.com, the world's leading independent authority and education platform for match officials, are behind the creation of the tournament that will see invited youth teams at under 14 level from as far away as Australia competing.

The Youdan Trophy is set to take place from Monday 27 July to Friday 31 July.

Glasgow Celtic, Glasgow Rangers, Sheffield Wednesday, Sheffield United, Charlton Athletic, Brentford, AFA Nerang Eagles (Gold Coast) and FAB Academy are scheduled to compete at the event.
