Two squads from the Sheffield Wednesday Disability football team have enjoyed success at a tournament in Sheffield after gaining two top three placings.
The Ability Counts Under 16s entered two teams into the tournament and came an impressive joint first and third place.
The Wednesday team also played against Sheffield United’s Community Foundation team.
Alex Betsworth, Sheffield Wednesday Community coach, said: “Congratulations to everyone involved in the tournament – the teams did great and we’re really proud to see their progression throughout the season.”
The team is now looking forward to the Unity Cup competition hosted by the Community Programme Saturday 20 June as part of the Reds v Blues event at the Hillsborough Arena. The competition starts at 11:00am.
New players are always welcome and weekly training sessions take place at Hillsborough College 11.15 - 12.15pm every Saturday. The sessions are predominantly aimed at young people with learning difficulties.
