30 points on the line

12 March 2015

  • Stuart Gray targets strong finish to 2014/15
  • Full focus on the current campaign for Wednesday
  • 30 points to play for starting with the Fulham clash on Saturday

Stuart Gray says there is plenty on the line for the Owls in the final ten games of the campaign.

With 30 points to play for, starting with a home test against Fulham on Saturday, the head coach is urging his players to finish the season as strong as possible.

Wednesday are 13 points off the play-offs but the Owls boss believes while ever it is mathematically possible, his side will continue to aim to force their way into contention.

He said: “I’ve got a great bunch of lads, an honest bunch of lads who give 100%.

“Our challenge is to finish higher than last season and keep looking up to the play-offs until it’s mathematically impossible.

“That’s the challenge for the players. I’ve got players out of contract and fighting and scrapping for new ones.

“I’ve got players who are in the side at the moment and playing well.

“Confidence is high, we are in a decent run of form and had a good win at Blackpool last week.”

With three wins from four, Gray has emphasised the importance of producing the goods at Hillsborough.

While Fulham are battling for Championship safety, there will be nothing straight forward about Saturday’s game as Gray explained:

“It surprises me where Fulham find themselves in the division because they have some quality players in their squad.

“It won’t be an easy game but from my point of view, I’m only concerned with what we do and I want to see our good run extended at Hillsborough this weekend.”
