Fantastic evening with the Class of '05

9 March 2015

Sheffield Wednesday were delighted to celebrate the ‘Class of ’05’ during a special evening at Hillsborough on Sunday faciltated by the club's Community Programme.

The 2004/05 campaign, of course, saw the Owls promoted to the Championship after an epic battle with Hartlepool in the play-off final at Cardiff.

Ten years on and the club, along with players from the squad and supporters, re-lived those fantastic memories of a remarkable season.

Hosted impeccably by Sky Sports presenter and SWFC Community Patron David Garrido, the night had everything including special goals on the big screens from that season, anecdotes from the top table, question and answer sessions with the players and much more.

Supporters who managed to obtain tickets for the sold out event in the newly-refurbished 1867 Lounge could listen to the likes of Glenn Whelan and Chris Brunt discuss their favourite moments of the season.

Wednesdayites will never forget that famous goal celebration by JP McGovern, Whelan’s left footed drive, Steve MacLean’s penalty, Drew Talbot rounding the goalkeeper and skipper Lee Bullen lifting the trophy – and the evening summed up the outstanding team spirit at that time.

All proceeds from the event will go to the SWFC Community Programme and Sheffield Wednesday would like to thank supporters for their generosity throughout the event.

We caught up with several members of the squad, starting with Brunt and Whelan.
