Stuart Gray reflected on the 2-1 defeat to Blackburn and insisted that Wednesday must show more consistency.
The Owls conceded two early goals from which they never truly recovered and the head coach was critical over how his side started the game.
He said: “It was night and day but that’s Sheffield Wednesday at the moment.
“I don’t mind conceding quality goals but I never like giving away charity goals and that’s what we did tonight.
“We didn’t defend a throw-in, we didn’t stop the right back coming through and you cannot defend like that at this level.
“The intensity that we should have had was missing and I said to the players after the game that you can’t play like that in the second half just when you’re two goals down, you have to play like that from the first whistle.
“In the second half I can’t fault them but it’s what happened before that’s cost us the game.”
