Owls and Coventry share the spoils

11 March 2015

The Owls’ Under-21s posted another point on the board with a goalless draw at Coventry on Wednesday afternoon.

A game of few chances saw the visitors create one opportunity through Jonathan Fusco, who shot narrowly over the crossbar.

Joe Wildsmith was down smartly to deny Blair Turgott on the half-hour and the Coventry striker then blazed wide from eight yards in what proved the clearest opening of the game.

Simeon Jackson went close for the hosts after the break but both sides held firm to earn a point.

Coach Lee Bullen said: It wasn’t a game for the purist, the pitch was a real leveller.

“There was a sprinkling of youth and experience in both sides. Lewis Buxton was outstanding and Melo played the full 90 minutes, which was important because he needs match minutes as well as training.

“There were hardly any chances but the boys put in the hard work and I think a point was a fair result.”

Owls:  Wildsmith, Murray (Beatson 66), Floro, de Havilland, Buxton, Melo, O’Brien, Croasdale, Fusco, McCabe, Stobbs
