Thriving in S6

With three wins in the last four Lewis McGugan wants that productive run to extend at Hillsborough on Saturday.

Championship strugglers Fulham are the visitors this weekend, who are one place above the bottom three.

McGugan is targeting three more points and aiming to finish the season with a flourish.

The loan ace is thriving in S6 with three goals in his last five and playing his part in Wednesday’s current purple patch.

The midfielder scored the winning goal on Saturday at Blackpool, with his wide free kick skipping up off the turf and into the net.

He said: “Throughout my career I’ve always been very confident from dead ball situations in and around the goal.

“I always feel there is a chance to at least get it on target and try and make the keeper work. Luckily at Blackpool it went in.

“But we’ve put the Blackpool win to bed now, it was a great three points and now we have got to look ahead to Saturday.”

Although one place above the drop zone, Fulham have eight points more than their nearest relegation rivals Wigan and Millwall.

Away from home, the Cottagers have struggled with 12 defeats on the road this term.

McGugan added: “We have to try as a group to come up with a plan to get three points at home and hopefully that will happen.

“We owe the fans a good run at home. Since my first spell and this one, the fans have been absolutely brilliant with me and it was a strong, strong reason why I wanted to come back.

“I feel wanted and appreciated and it’s nice to feel that way hopefully I can keep repaying them.”
