Two on the bounce for Wednesday

23 March 2015

The Owls’ Under-18s posted back to back victories on Saturday after beating Coventry 1-0 at Middlewood Road.

Substitute Fraser Preston was the man of the moment, scoring with his first touch after coming on from the bench five minutes before the end.

Earlier, Wednesday had chances but good goalkeeping kept the hosts at bay.

The Owls went on to edge proceedings and ran out deserved winners.

Coach Steven Haslam said:  "It was another good win following on from the victory at Huddersfield.

“We started the game brightly and should have been a couple of goals up at half time.

“The game got a bit scrappy on a bumpy pitch but the lads kept going and got the breakthrough.

“I was pleased with how the players saw the game out and we now go into the game on Tuesday against Forest full of confidence on the back of two successive wins."

Owls: McDonagh, Foster, Stachini, Law, Lee, Beatson, Brown (Ellam 66), Clarke, Hirst (Tracey 76), Nicholson (Preston 83), Nuttall
