- Owls without Will Keane for the derby
- Striker expected back after international break
- New loan signing Lloyd Isgrove eligible to feature
Sheffield Wednesday will be without Will Keane for this weekend’s derby clash with Rotherham.
But there was positive news for the striker after scan results showed no major damage.
Keane suffered the ankle injury during Wednesday’s recent fixture with Fulham at Hillsborough.
Stuart Gray is hopeful the Manchester United product will be back available after the international break.
Gray said: “Keane had his MRI scan and the results haven’t shown any major damage.
“There is slight ligament damage and he’s not going to be fit for Saturday but hopefully he will be back training after the international break.
“All club have injuries and setbacks. We’ve lost Palmer, Loovens, Semedo and now Keane.
“They are four players who would be in your team but that’s part and parcel of football.
“We had feared Palmer may require surgery but thankfully that wasn’t the case and the specialist is pleased with him but I would think that’s his season over.”
In other news, Wednesday will be able to bring new loan signing Lloyd Isgrove into the squad.
The winger has signed on loan from Southampton until the end of the season.
Gray added: “We’ve been chipping away for ages, it shows how highly Southampton rate him to have put him on a long term contract.
“He was a wide player we have been chasing and thankfully we’ve got him through the door.”
