- Caolan Lavery called up to Northern Ireland squad
- Michael O’Neill impressed by the Wednesday forward
- Owls ace could feature in Euro 2016 qualifier against Romania
Northern Ireland manager Michael O’Neill wants to see Caolan Lavery replicate his Owls form on the international stage.
The 22-year-old striker has been called-up to the squad for the friendly with Qatar and Euro 2016 qualifier against Romania.
O’Neill has been impressed by Lavery, who has made significant strides through the ranks at Hillsborough since joining the club 2012.
He said: “Caolan has come back from injury and forced his way into the first team at Sheffield Wednesday.
“He is a young striker, very quick and works hard.
“It’s another opportunity for a young player to replicate his form for country as he does for his club.
“He is a young player who we have had in the Under-21 set-up, he works very hard and going forward, we are going to need the likes of these players to perform for us.”
