Jose Semedo visits Owls home

8 May 2015

One lucky Owls family welcomed Jose Semedo to their home yesterday after they entered a unique social media competition.

Becky Richardson entered a competition on Wednesday’s official Instagram account to meet the midfielder and was drawn out as the winner.

Hundreds of fans entered by reposting the competition image and tagging the official account @swfcofficial in their competition entry.

Jose visited Becky’s family and was welcomed by Becky, her husband Chris, mum Lynn, dad Ken, son Jay (9), daughter Kailey (11) and son Cal (1).

As well as enjoying hospitality from the Richardson family, Semedo took time to talk to the whole family, discuss his football career and ask about the family.

Jay, who goes to Rawmarsh St Joseph's school, said: “Semedo was the nicest man I've ever met, I hope I can be like him one day. I'm going to train hard and work hard like he told me to. Then maybe I can play for Wednesday when I'm older.”

Like the rest of his family, Jay is a massive Sheffield Wednesday fan. He plays football for Brinsworth Whitehall and trains with the Ronnie Moore’s Academy based in Rotherham.

Jose said: “It was so nice to visit Becky and her family. They all made me feel really welcome and it was nice to meet a family who have always supported Sheffield Wednesday."

He added: “I’ve always said that our fans are my favourite thing about this club and meeting this family made me realise that even more. Jay told me about his football awards he’d won – he sounds like he’s going to do really well!”
