Pitch cam: Week four time lapse

27 May 2015

Over on the official Sheffield Wednesday YouTube channel, the latest time lapse video showing the progress with the pitch in week four has been published.

Here, pitch expert and site manager Nick Danvers explains the processes and work that took place during the fourth week.

He said: “In the week four video, you will see us installing the grit banding system which is a trench at approximately 150 mil deep, filled with 62 mil of gravel.

“This interlocks the lateral drainage, which was done in week two and provides an excellent drainage system.

“On the video, when we had overnight rain, you could see where the grit banding had been done because there was no water standing on the surface.

“After the grit banding process, we have started laying the heating system pipework.

“It sits at 300 mil below the finished level and on top of that is a layer of sand. That’s what people can see now - it looks like a beach coming towards the end of the fourth week.”

The pitch time lapses have registered almost 100,000 views over the past month and the latest video is available below.
