Jose Semedo has said it was a remarkable achievement for his fellow countryman and teammate Lucas Joao to earn his first cap for Portugal.
Joao came off the bench in the 72nd minute in Portugal’s recent friendly with Russia in Krasnodar.
At just 22-years-old, Semedo says Joao’s achievements are fantasdtic and that the player is destined for the top.
He said: “It is remarkable. I don’t remember a professional footballer playing in the second division to get an international call for the Portuguese first team.
“It’s a remarkable achievement for him, Portugal are a top team in the world and for a Sheffield Wednesday player to get there is fantastic.
“I love so much the way he plays, he couldn’t be in a better country than this one because he combines everything; power, pace and skill to play a huge part for Sheffield Wednesday.”
