Owls player Barry Bannan has shown his support to the National Citizen Service (NCS) and has congratulated King Edwards VII on becoming a ‘champion’ school for the programme.
The NCS programme, a government backed programme aimed at young people aged 15 -17 and facilitated by the club’s Community Programme have announced that King Edwards VII school will become a lead school for the project after their student success rate on the project.
More than 45 year 11 pupils from the school have taken part in the programme which has seen them take part in activities including outdoor activities such as kayaking, abseiling and rock climbing.
NCS is a government-funded youth programme designed to bring together young people from a wide range of backgrounds and teach them how to communicate and work as a team while contributing to their local community.
David Musgrove, key stage four year leader from King Edwards VII, said: “NCS has been an amazing experience for our year 11s and the staff were so helpful and friendly. It’s something great for our students to look forward to whilst they study for their GCSEs. I can’t recommend this programme enough – thanks to everyone involved.”
Lucy Shuttleworth, NCS co-ordinator, said: “It’s great to have champion schools like King Edwards VII who understand the positive impact it has on their students. We are delighted to present the school with a plaque for attaining champion school status and hope they are able to add to the collection with another one next year.”
