Former Owls defender – now Sky Sports’ pundit – Andy Hinchcliffe has picked his top ten Championship players of the season so far.
In-form striker Lucas Joao has made the list.
The 22-year-old recently earned his first two caps for the senior Portugal squad and has scored five goals in his last ten games for Wednesday.
Joao scored twice as the Owls came back from 1-0 down to defeat Huddersfield 3-1 on Saturday, with Kieran Lee also on target.
Hinchcliffe said: “Sheffield Wednesday have been a real success story so far this season - and Lucas Joao has been a big part of it.
“I've seen him on four or five occasions this season; he was fantastic against Arsenal in the League Cup as well.
“He's got everything you need to be successful, not just in the Championship but as a striker in the modern game. He's got pace, he's got strength, he can hold the ball up, he can score goals, he's good in the air and on the floor.
“I've been really impressed and the team plays to his strengths by getting plenty of crosses in.”
