Get the next run going

20 November 2015

Having seen the long unbeaten run come to an end before the international break, Glenn Loovens is keen to get the next one going.

A Yorkshire derby with Huddersfield is next on the cards for Wednesday and the skipper says it’s a hugely important fixture.

As the Owls put their final preparations in place for the clash against the Terriers, Loovens said:

“This game is going to be really important to get the next run going.

“The break came at a good time, we are fresh and everybody is ready and excited for this game.

“I had some problems with my hamstring before the break but everything is sorted now and I’m ready to go.”

Four of the Owls’ last six games have seen the club keep clean sheets.

That resilience has been a key factor in Wednesday’s recent purple patch across all competitions and Loovens has given credit to the entire squad for that achievement.

He continued: “We are playing well as a team, keeping clean sheets and that’s not only down to the defenders.

“We need our strikers to work hard for us which they are doing brilliantly.

“That makes the job easier for us. We kept a few clean sheets last month and we need to build on that.

“We have come a long way, if you look at the club a couple of years ago, they were struggling but there is a good vibe here now.”
