Sam Hutchinson will serve a two-match ban after picking up his tenth caution of the season on Saturday at The Valley.
The former Chelsea man was booked during the first half in the defeat to Charlton and will now miss the coming games against Huddersfield and Blackburn.
Hutchinson will be back available for selection when the Owls travel to Stoke for the Capital One Cup quarter final tie.
Head coach Carlos Carvalhal said: “We don’t want to change Sam. If you have an aggressive player and you tell him to stop being aggressive, he’s not the same player.
“You can’t change these kind of things. We don’t want to lose that energy he gives us in midfield.
“We need that energy.”
