Jose Semedo launches 'Win The Day'

20 November 2015

Sheffield Wednesday fans’ favourite Jose Semedo has launched his maiden foray into the literary world with the publication of Win The Day, an autobiographical account of how the ever-popular midfielder charters his career through the most popular sport on the planet.

The book has received support from arguably the best player on the planet – Real Madrid superstar and lifelong friend Cristiano Ronaldo, who has written a brotherly foreword to the innovative publication.

Win The Day raises the bar for both mental and physical preparation in the unique world of football. The book is far removed from gossip or dressing room diatribe as Jose goes deep into the inner world of a consummate professional footballer who has gone to extraordinary lengths to maximise his potential on and off the pitch.

Positive thinking and good mental practice has become a way of life for Semedo. Inspired by the kindness and the support of his best friend Ronaldo and a long term association with Sport Psychologist Sam Kotadia, Win the Day illustrates how Semedo devotes his mind, body and spirit into everything relative to his profession.

Starting their careers at Sporting Lisbon, Ronaldo and Semedo supported each other to go that extra mile in their hunt for a professional contract. Whether it was sneaking into the gym late at night or studying professional runners in Portugal, the duo left no stone unturned in fighting to be the best they could possibly be.

Semedo said: “In the class of 1985 at Sporting Lisbon, Ronaldo was the most talented player and I was the least talented player. But we were the only two players to win a professional contract.

“Were it not for the kindness and support of Ronaldo, I may never have made it as a footballer.

“Since the very first day that I signed my contract, I have never taken anything for granted. Writing the book is my way of giving something back to the game we all love and I would like to thank everyone who has taken part on my incredible journey.”

Ronaldo said: “Although we now play for different teams, in heart and mind we are on this footballing journey together.

“I’m sure Jose will inspire younger players with his wise words and stories about his priceless experiences in the world of football.”

Kotadia, who has worked with Semedo six years in which he has plied his trade in England, added: “Jose’s relentless work ethic in all areas of his game has not only captured the respect of his peers but has also the imagination and hearts of his much-loved Sheffield Wednesday fans.

“It has been an amazing journey working with Jose and a privilege to work with him on Win the Day.

“I think Jose’s mental practices have the potential to set a new benchmark in the modern game. His application and commitment to preparing his mind and body every day over the years, irrespective of what is going on around him at the time, is remarkable and an inspiration.”

Win the Day, priced £15, is out now and available in the Owls Megastore.

The book, published by Mindsport Ltd, makes for the perfect stocking filler this Christmas and is also available online at wintheday.co.uk
