Sheffield Wednesday’s souvenir programme dedicated to the late Ron Springett has scooped a national award.
The Owls v Fulham edition of ‘Wednesday’ was voted the Northern Programme Club Programme of the Month for September.
Following the sad news of Ron’s passing on Sunday 13 September, the club’s media team completely overhauled the pagination plan for the game against the Cottagers the following Saturday.
SWFC Director of Communications Trevor Braithwait said: “This is a really nice accolade and we would like to thank NPC.
“We received the sad news on the Sunday prior to the Wednesday copy deadline so we knew that if we worked around the clock, we could completely revise the programme plan and dedicate the Fulham issue to Ron.
“Given Ron’s status a true club legend, we also knew there was only one answer.
“We conducted interviews with the likes of Howard Wilkinson and Don Megson as well as collating associated copy and images, including a fitting design on the front cover.
“We signed off right at the last but the end justified the means as the final production was one of which we were exceptionally proud.
“Above all else, the programme did Ron full justice and will serve as a permanent tribute to our finest ever goalkeeper.”
