The target for Tom

24 November 2015

At just 24 years of age, Tom Lees has already clocked up an impressive 300 career appearances.

The defender told swfc.co.uk after victory over Huddersfield that his aim has always been to play as many games as possible.

With bags of time on his side, no doubt many more will follow but Lees has not set a number of appearances for which to aim for.

He said: “I’ve not got a magic number because hopefully in my career I can play at the highest level and hopefully that will be with Sheffield Wednesday.

“I know that the higher you go, the better the level you play, the fiercer the competition is.

“If you’re playing in the top league, it’s unlikely you will play every week but I will do my best to keep this run of games going.”

The former Leeds defender is the Owls’ only ever-present performer this season with 21 appearances.

During his debut season at Hillsborough, Lees featured 48 times and is on course to achieving another impressive tally this term, he added:

“I’m really enjoying it here and touch wood I can be lucky with injuries and see where we can get to.”
