Lee hits the hundred in style

3 October 2015

Kieran Lee marked his 100th appearance for the Owls with a goal against Preston on Saturday.

On the stroke of half time, Lee linked up with Fernando Forestieri before sweeping home into the Leppings Lane net.

The strike capped a fine week for the industrious midfielder, who had been crowned as the club’s Player of the Month in the build-up to the game.

“It’s always good to get on the scoresheet and I was delighted to get that goal today,” he told swfc.co.uk.

“I knew I was playing my 100th game so you could say it’s the perfect way to mark it. But the most important thing was to win and collect the three points.

“That’s three consecutive Championship wins and four when you include the cup win at Newcastle so this is a good place to be right now.

“We made it hard for ourselves at the end but the main thing was we continued our winning run. I think that’s what we deserved today.”

Wednesday head into the international break in high spirits and for Lee, the key thing is to keep the run going when the Owls host Hull next time out.

He added: “We’re high on confidence right now and enjoying our football, as are the fans.

“We’ll work hard over the next two weeks and be ready to come back even stronger.”
