Owls on a run

14 October 2015

While Barry Bannan believes the Owls’ recent victories may have come the hard way, the midfielder is delighted by the current run.

Last time out, a late Preston goal against the run of play set up a tense finish, though Lewis McGugan’s last minute stunner settled the contest at 3-1.

But having won the last four on the spin, Bannan is thoroughly enjoying his football at Hillsborough and on the current run he commented:

“We’ve won those games, we’ve come through them and we’ve kept going on this really good run that we’re currently on.

“We’ve also shown our resilience under pressure. We know that we’ve got a very solid defence and we’re showing that.

“We could have been more comfortable in the games and we probably should have been. I know we’ve missed chances to put the game out of sight but that happens.

“You’re always going to have periods in games when the opposition are going to have a good go at you. Very few teams just roll over.

“We’ve been unfortunate in that it’s come late on in games recently so we’ve ended up with a nervy finish.

“But that’s not something we’re too concerned about really.”
