Under-18s power on

17 October 2015

The Owls’ Under-18s posted a fourth successive victory following a five-goal thriller at local rivals Leeds on Saturday.

And Matt Penney caught the eye once more, striking a wonderful winner to extend Wednesday’s excellent start to the season.

The versatile left-footer hit a late beauty as the visitors came from behind to take the points.

Earlier in the game, the Owls took the lead midway through the first half through Warren Clarke but Leeds levelled seven minutes before half time.

The Whites then seized the advantage from the spot just after the restart before Wednesday were awarded a penalty themselves that Freddie Tracey dispatched.

A ding-dong battle that could have gone either way was decided with ten minutes to go, with Penney cutting in from the right to deliver a whistling drive that flew into the top corner.
