Hillsborough Pumas enjoy club's grassroots scheme
More than 100 young people from a local football club have taken advantage of the club’s Grassroots Community Programme Scheme.
Thanks to the scheme, local community football team Hillsborough Pumas have attended three home league matches and taken part in exclusive matchday activities.
The Pumas, based at Hillsborough Arena, enjoyed activities including walking around the pitch, shaking the giant Wednesday shirt before kick-off and leading the Owls on to the Hillsborough pitch.
Tony Gee, Club Treasurer for the Pumas, said: “It’s a great initiative that allows people to enjoy the Hillsborough matchday experience and gives valuable funds back to grassroots clubs. The package is also great for a full day of football activities.”
Tony added: “As a local community club on the doorstep of Sheffield Wednesday we are delighted to take advantage of this scheme and further cement our relationship with the club.”
The Grassroots Community Programme Scheme invites groups of youngsters of all backgrounds to engage with Sheffield Wednesday, who offer significant benefits via the project in return, including discounted match tickets with cashback for junior clubs and money can’t buy experiences on the Hillsborough pitch.
For just £20, junior participants enjoy a range of matchday activities as well as a South Stand ticket, copy of the official programme and refreshments for the juniors.
A ticket-only package is also available where adults can buy tickets for just £20 and juniors for £5 and still receive cashback for their club, school or organisation.
