Sheffield Wednesday welcomed local football team the Aston Swallownest Under-11s to last weekend’s game against Fulham to experience the club’s Grassroots Community Programme Scheme.
The team enjoyed a coaching session at Middlewood Road and stadium tour including the brand new home dressing room, press area and pitchside. The youngsters also enjoyed food in the Jack Charlton suite before taking part in match activities including flag waving and becoming player escorts. The team then, of course, enjoyed the game, which ended 3-2 in Wednesday’s favour.
Aston Swallownest’s coach Chris Jarvis said: “I would recommend any junior football team or school to get involved in the scheme as it provides children the chance to experience and see what goes on behind the scenes of a professional football club.
“The community staff provide excellent coaching and care for the children from the very first minute you arrive at the ground to the end of the match. It gives the children a day and experience they will hopefully remember for the rest of their lives.”
The Grassroots Community Programme Scheme invites groups of youngsters of all backgrounds to engage with Sheffield Wednesday, who offer significant benefits via the project in return, including discounted match tickets with cashback for junior clubs and money can’t buy experiences on the Hillsborough pitch.
For just £20, junior participants enjoy a range of matchday activities as well as a South Stand ticket, copy of the official programme and refreshments for the juniors.
A ticket-only package is also available where adults can buy tickets for just £20 and juniors for £5 and still receive cashback for their club, school or organisation. To get closer to your club and be part of this exciting project, please email email@example.com or call 0114 324 0523
