Confidence in Joe

14 September 2015

Young Owls goalkeeper Joe Wildsmith has the full confidence of head coach Carlos Carvalhal.

The academy product made the first Championship start of his career on Saturday at Burnley and is set to follow that up on Tuesday at Bolton.

Carvalhal has predicted a big future for the 19-year-old and said:

“Joe had a very good match. He gave confidence to the team and he will play again on Tuesday.

“Joe is a very, very good goalkeeper and has a big, big future. He’s only 19 years old but we trust him 100%.

“I’m very happy with Joe and if he keeps playing like this, he will play more times this season because we trust him a lot.”

Wildsmith has made three appearances so far this season for the Owls and has previously gained loan experience at Alfreton in 2013/14 and more recently Barnsley, in the 2014/15 campaign.
