Owls goalkeeper Joe Wildsmith has received an England Under-20 international call-up for the forthcoming U20 Mercedes-Benz Elite Cup in Germany.
The friendly tournament will incorporate three games for the young Lions in October – against the Netherlands, Turkey and host nation Germany.
Wildsmith’s inclusion is reward for his steady progress this season for Wednesday.
The teenager has impressed between the sticks when called upon in the absence of Keiren Westwood, making his debut for the Owls in the Capital One Cup against Mansfield.
Wildsmith went on to post a maiden league start at Burnley, before recording clean sheets against Bolton and Newcastle respectively.
He signed a contract extension with the Owls in August this year.
