Fernando Forestieri will miss the Owls’ Capital One Cup clash with Newcastle on Wednesday at St James’ Park.
The 25-year-old, who opened up his account on Saturday with a goal against Fulham, is cup-tied having represented his former club Watford in the competition this season.
Forestieri scored the opening goal of the game on Saturday, nodding home from close range past Cottagers goalkeeper Andy Lonergan.
The talented forward was withdrawn at half time and head coach Carlos Carvalhal said:
“Fernando felt a little pain in his hamstring at half time so we decided to take him out and replace with Joao, who gave a lot of energy to the team.
“He has already played in the cup so won’t play on Wednesday but hopefully we will have him back for Saturday.
“I'm very happy for Fernando to score and I believe there is much more to come from him.”
