Memorial edition of 'Wednesday'

18 September 2015

Our matchday programme on Saturday forms part of a fitting tribute to the late, great Ron Springett.

The legendary former goalkeeper passed away last weekend and the Owls’ home game with Fulham – the place of Ron’s birth, ironically – is dedicated to the man himself.

The memorial edition of ‘Wednesday’ is central to a day that sees the players from both sides don black armbands for the match, which will be preceded by a minute’s silence.

The Hillsborough stadium flags will fly at half-mast.

Ten pages of the Cottagers programme are devoted to Ron, including feature interviews with fellow S6 legends Howard Wilkinson and Don Megson.

The cover also marks his passing in suitable style.

Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Ron at this extremely difficult time.
