Owls wait on Forestieri

25 September 2015

Wednesday will learn today whether dangerman Fernando Forestieri will make his return to action at Brentford.

Forestieri was cup-tied for the Newcastle clash in midweek but would have been unavailable in any case due to a slight hamstring injury.

But on a positive note for the Owls and head coach Carlos Carvalhal, the squad is otherwise in good shape following the 1-0 win over the Magpies.

Aiming for a third consecutive win in all competitions, Carvalhal says he will have a squad full of players at 100% for the trip to Griffin Park.

“We are waiting for the confirmation on Fernando and we will know today for sure whether he can play or not,” Carlos said.

“The players who played at Newcastle were tired, especially those who didn’t play for a long time. They gave absolutely everything to win that match.

“Lewis McGugan finished with some difficulties for the last five minutes but that is normal because he run a lot and played very well. But there are no injury problems.”

He continued: “All the players could play, of course. But we must understand that the timings between the matches are very short.

“We have players who didn’t play on Wednesday that are at 100%. The players who play on Saturday will be at 100% and that is very good to me, it’s absolutely fantastic.

“We had players with full energy for the Newcastle match and now we have players who have full energy for Saturday’s match to gain three points at Brentford."
