Lewis McGugan has said the Owls thoroughly deserved their place in the fourth round of the Capital One Cup after a terrific performance at St James’ Park.
Wednesday defeated Premier League side Newcastle 1-0 as McGugan’s late strike secured Wednesday’s passage in the competition.
Speaking to the media after the game, the returning midfielder said: “It’s brilliant to be back playing and back helping the team.
“I thought we were brilliant tonight and thoroughly deserved the win.
“We had good chances in the first half and put our foot to the floor after the break. We were unlucky not to get another goal.
“I thought we coped with what they threw at us pretty well and in the second half we thought we can go on and win this.
“We’ve drawn Arsenal in the next round and these are the teams you want to be playing.”
