Tough afternoon for the Owls at Charlton

21 September 2015

The Owls Under-21s were defeated 4-0 by Charlton at The Valley on Monday.

A double from Josh Umerah and further goals from Ademola Lookman and Joe Aribo sealed a convincing win for the Addicks.

Experienced midfielder Franck Moussa claimed two assists on duty for the Charlton Under-21s on a difficult afternoon for the young Owls.

Following a goalless opening period which saw Cameron Dawson make a fine save to deny Lookman on the stroke of half time, the Owls keeper was soon called into action after the break.

Umerah tested the academy product with a curling effort from 20 yards which he pushed to safety before foiling Lookman with the follow up.

But Charlton edged ahead moments later as Umerah prodded home from inside the box and the lead was quickly doubled when Moussa played a superb over the top ball for Lookman, who took the ball in his stride and fired home.

Umerah tapped home from close range to make it 3-0 following excellent work from the pacey Lookman, who was at the heart of the fourth goal on 71 minutes.

The industrious forward cut inside and hit the post from a narrow angle but Aribo was on hand to follow up and blast into the roof of the net.

Owls: Dawson, Booker, Beatson, Meadows, de Havilland, Lachman, Penney, Kirby (Centeno 58), Manzinca, Clarke, Wildin
