VIDEO: Under-18s hit back in seven-goal thriller

21 September 2015

A spirited second half fight back from the Owls Under-18s saw a 3-1 deficit turn into a 4-3 victory and coach Steven Haslam was delighted with the outcome.

Wednesday edged in front with a cool finish from Matt Penney before conceding three first half goals.

But after the interval the hosts hit back in tremendous fashion with three fine strikes from George Hirst, Penney and Warren Clarke.

Haslam said: “It was a thrilling game and we showed our character to bounce back in the manner we did.

“After making a good start, we conceded three goals and things then became very tricky.

“But the boys stuck together after half time. It was a case of getting them in at the break, re-grouping and making some adjustments.

“We knew we needed to deal with their threat, press higher up the pitch and get closer in midfield.

“Then it became one-way traffic, we scored some great goals and the pleasing thing is that the goals are coming from all areas.”
